As many of you know, @olivergeddes a legend in the UK BJJ community and beyond, is currently facing terminal bowel cancer. Oli has dedicated his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—not just through his accomplishments on the mats, but through his coaching, support of others, and tireless commitment to growing the sport across the UK and internationally.

In recognition of everything Oli has done and is still going through, we’re inviting everyone in the BJJ community to add a blue stripe or tag to your belt—an acknowledgement ,symbol of support, respect, and unity.

Good news. Our new book - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: The Ultimate Illustrated Guidebook, by Seymour Yang and Graham Barlow, with Foreword by John Will - will be available as a pre-order on Wednesday 28th May.

Q: What will the book cover?
A: The book will feature all the concepts, techniques and theory we think would be useful for a beginner to intermediate jiu-jitsu student. It’s the kind of book that we wish existed when we first started jiu-jitsu! It features 970 of my drawings and 50,000 words of text!

Q: When will the pre-order go live?
A: Wednesday 28th May 2025

Q: Where can I buy the pre-order?
A: Through my website, Meerkatsu.com

Q: How much will it be?
A: We just need to run a few numbers but we will try to make it as affordable as possible - bear in mind however, this is an independently published, first edition, premium quality hardback book.

Q: How long will the pre-order last?
A: The pre-order window will last two weeks, then we send to printers to make the book (about two weeks), then we ship it out to you.

Q: What if I miss the pre-order?
A: We will print a few more books as spares and have them in stock but once they sell out, that's it, they're gone. So best not to wait.

Q: Do you ship international?
A: Yes we do, see the dropdown list of destination countries in checkout.

Q: Shipping is gonna kill me, right?
A: See the shipping fee at checkout, it should cost no more than when ordering a kimono (it is calculated by weight).

Q: Will the book be available on Amazon?
A: This hardback version will be exclusive to my store and when it sells out it sells out. After that, we may launch a softback version and this may or may not go on Amazon. We haven’t decided yet.

Q: Will you do an e-book version?
A: We've not decided yet. Our main aim was to make a tangible physical object you could hold in your hands and cherish for years. If we do an e-book version, it would be much later in the life of the project.
